Introducing my new WIP
On March 1, I started a new WIP with a goal of finishing the first draft by EOD May 31. Today, I finished that first draft!
I can’t quite explain how excited I am about this book. From the moment I really sat down to start writing it, everything clicked. This draft is no where near the final draft, but I feel really good about where it’s at. I think people are going to like this one (at least, I like this one).
My goal now is to finish draft 1.5 by May 31 instead. What does 1.5 mean? As I was writing, I realized there were clues and features that needed to be added earlier in the book, but I wanted to keep forward momentum going, so I didn’t stop to go back. Instead, every time I thought of something I want to add or change, I marked it down on the “For Revisions” page in OneNote.
And now it’s time for the introduction…
Every few months, a man known only as the Mage comes to the Mithridate’s cottage to request a potion be made for the Queen. Euphemia is more than happy to do her part to help Her Majesty. When an old woman shows up to the shop claiming to be in her twenties, Euphemia goes to the village library, beyond the family tomes, and begins to unravel a terrifying secret. She confronts her father on her 25th birthday and confirms the terrible truth of her family business—the potions they make are actually poisons to take down those who cross the Queen.
In her shame and grief, Euphemia runs away to start a new life as a housemaid in a home of kind and loving nobles. Everything she thought she knew about life is turned on its head when the Mage shows up again.
This WIP is an adult romantasy with love, heartbreak, complicated family dynamics, and found family.
